One in four of us will at some time suffer from cancer. The high mortality rate, the suffering experienced by patients from the side effects of existing treatments, and the high costs of treatment all contribute to making cancer a priority for drug research.

Much like SETI, this project/GRID Computing initiative is much more valuable to me, my family and my friends...

The United Devices Cancer Research Project is asking you to volunteer your PC to help process molecular research being conducted by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford in England and the National Foundation for Cancer Research. To participate, you simply download a very small, no cost, non-invasive software program that works like a screensaver: it runs when your computer isn't being used, and processes research until you need your machine. Your computer never leaves your desk, and the project never interrupts your usual PC use.

Bet Microsoft is secretly enjoying having a business reason to advise customers to uninstall Netscape. Netgoat is so far off the radar though, that I can't imagine many have installed it. Gotta say, although Firefox has its own limitations and problems, shear speed and reliability leaves me thinking Microsoft must be hoping Firefox breaks IE in the future so they can give the same advisory for them!

Howstuffworks "How Lightsabers Work"

As always, I'm about a week late to see the latest Star Wars installment. But like the first one I saw at the theatre (Episode V), I'm going with Mom and Dad tonight!

Now if I can just get the funds to buy a Lightsaber and slice a bagel!

This thing really sucks!

I have v1.0 of the Roomba. It was cool, it was decent. But now they have added what I've been waiting and bitching for. It goes back to homebase for a recharge on its own now. Beautiful.
