The easiest way does not actually disable MySites but takes away the ability of users to create it.

From Central Admin, go into your SSP and then select "My Site Settings" On the left hand nav bar click the link called "Personalization Services Permission". For each entry, click on it to edit and make sure that the "Create personal site" check box is not checked.

Great resource to learn the basics in Sharepoint.

Man, what an ugly install PHP and MySQL are. The documentation is all over the place, everyone in every newsgroup is giving their $0.02 and none of it seems even remotely accurate. In a nutshell, it is exactly what is *wrong* with Open Source. Don't get me wrong, open source is a great thing, but man, I wish they could get their act together on some of these things.

Anyways, I finally got a swell/working PHP/MySQL on IIS (ya ya, I should install it on Linux, etc. - blah blah blah, go take a shower nerd). But these two articles were very important, in particular, the detail regarding the system variable that needs to be set called 'PHPRC' that is very poorly documented. It tells PHP where to find the php.ini file (I think, I should have ranted last week when I was actually doing it).

Update:

Found some videos (fantastic):

  1. Installing PHP 5.2.5 on IIS

  2. Installing MySQL on IIS

  3. This has a gem about configuring php.ini for magicquotes, the extension dir path and enabling the MySQL Dll's

Anyways, here they are:

How To Install PHP on IIS 6.0

Ok, so I get to use this space to brag and blogs are powerful for search engines so what the heck, maybe someone will stumble across our services by this post. Worth a try anyways. :)

Ok, I'm frustrated with my team. I'm loyal to a fault but here's my threat to Maple Leaf Management. (Yes, BC'ers, I'm a Leafs fan and nobody, even Luongo is going to make the Canucks my first team - I won't lower my standards that much ;-)

But here it goes. If the Leafs trade Mats Sundin, whatever team/wherever he goes, is going to be my NEW team. That's right, for the rest of the season I'll be backing wherever Sundin goes. He's a hero as far as I'm concerned, a great role model, a class act, a terrific talent and the Leafs don't deserve him if this is the team and intensity they can muster.

Hopefully, he isn't going anywhere and instead they package up some of the buffoons (and all of management, shit rolls downhill folks) and trade them for some matching luggage for Mats.

*SIGH*

Great little site/utility for creating social bookmarks such as Digg, Del.ici.ous, technorati, etc., all with a simple account (Free) and links to all the leading sites (like 40 of them). Faster, easier better than creating a bunch of links manually. Very slick really. Will take some time I'm sure to see some improved search engine results but took me all of 30 seconds to create an account, create my code and embed it on the site.
